Principal Solutions Architect
Ascii Group, LLC is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to lead their software engineering and architecture efforts. The role involves defining target state architecture, leading data strategy initiatives, and guiding cloud landing zone decisions while mentoring engineers and ensuring compliance with security standards.
Responsibilities
Define the target state architecture spanning application, data, integration, security, and operations—including domain boundaries, service decomposition, and cloud reference patterns
Create and maintain the modernization roadmap: iterative cutovers, strangler fig patterns, co-existence strategies, and rollback plans
Establish non-functional requirements (NFRs) and SLAs/SLOs for availability, performance, security, compliance, resilience, and cost
Lead data discovery and profiling; build a data rationalization blueprint (canonical models, golden records, de duplication rules, survivorship logic)
Define and govern data quality metrics (completeness, accuracy, and timeliness), data lineage, and metadata standards
Architect migration waves for historical data (bulk loads + change data capture), including schema mapping, validation, and reconciliation
Select and guide tooling for ETL/ELT, CDC, data quality, MDM, and catalog/lineage
Implement archival/retention strategies and PII masking/tokenization aligned to regulatory needs
Lead cloud landing zone decisions (AWS/Azure), including networking, identity, secrets management, KMS, backup/DR, observability, and cost governance
Translate architecture into epics and technical stories; guide squads through iterative delivery and incremental cutovers
Run architecture reviews, threat modelling, and design clinics; resolve tech debt and make trade-offs visible
Mentor engineers; build a culture of observability, reliability, and automation
Qualification
Required
8–12+ years in software engineering/architecture, with 3–5+ years leading legacy modernization programs
Hands on architecture experience across application, data, and cloud domains
Proven delivery of data migrations at scale (TB+), including CDC and high fidelity reconciliation
Strong cloud architecture skills in AWS and/or Azure (networking, IAM, storage, compute, managed databases, messaging, monitoring)
Solid understanding of security and compliance (encryption, secrets, least privilege, auditability)
Preferred
Experience in financial services / BFSI or other regulated industries
Hands on with Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery or Azure/AWS data services (e.g., Databricks, Glue, and Data Factory)
MDM, data quality, and catalog/lineage tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Ataccama, Informatica)
Messaging/event streaming (Kafka, Event Hubs, SNS/SQS), caching (Redis), API gateways
Performance engineering and cost optimization in cloud
Certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD, TOGAF)
