ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT
The City of New York is dedicated to addressing homelessness through its Department of Homeless Services (DHS). They are seeking an Architectural Assistant to perform high-level architectural work, conduct research, and manage complex architectural projects to improve facility conditions.

Responsibilities
Perform architectural work of high difficulty and responsibility; consult on major architectural projects
Conduct research, investigations or examinations related to complex architectural functions and projects of DHS Operations
Prepare, develop, and review proposals, drawings, maps, plans and interpretive detail sketches or layouts
Prepare specifications, estimates of quantities of materials required and cost estimates for architectural projects
Review drawings, prepare analysis of the spatial organization and efficient utilization of sites and structures
Coordinate multiple projects of great technical complexity with major potential impact on DHS architectural operations
Be able to sign and seal architectural and other official documents by utilizing their valid NYS Registered Architect License
File projects at Department of Buildings (DOB), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), City Planning Commission (CPC) and the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to meet the Jurisdictional Agency compliance
Qualification
Required
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. Current New York State Registration as an Architect must be maintained for the duration of your employment
At least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project
Preferred
Ability to balance multiple priorities and perform tasks across multiple simultaneous projects at various stages of development and implementation
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and demonstrate an ability to engage with non-technical staff including diverse client agencies, end users, and other stakeholders
Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate an ability to facilitate teamwork and build consensus among diverse stakeholder groups for policy decisions
