Supervise a crew of young adults (Corpsmembers) working on public service conservation projects
Teach Corpsmembers the importance of work productivity, teamwork, safe work habits and discipline
Develop Corpsmembers’ leadership skills
Respond to emergencies such as wild land fires, floods, pest eradication and mudslides
Ability to take immediate action in life-threatening situations
Supervise, train, and evaluate young adults (Corpsmembers) between the ages of 18 and 25 performing conservation-related work projects
Instruct, inspire, motivate, and ensure the development of safe work habits in crews of young adult Corpsmembers
Supervise Corpsmembers while involved in projects in remote areas or urban settings
Respond to natural disasters such as floods, fires, or pest infestations
Qualification

Ability to take immediate action in life-threatening situations
Physical requirements for this classification are arduous: Requires lifting objects weighing 50 lbs or more, often in combination with pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, grabbing, carrying, kneeling, twisting, and reaching at or above shoulder level
Includes standing and walking for extended periods of time; irregular work surfaces, and ability to hike difficult terrain
May require working extended hours and in remote areas

Some travel required: 25% subject to change - daily travel to/from local project sites
Overnight travel/stay is required for spike and most emergency assignments
The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired
The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired
Commercial Driver License – Provide evidence that a Commercial Class C license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle special endorsement, or equivalent, has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Pre-employment Drug Test – Pass a urine drug test
Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ)
Medical Exam – a medical clearance examination is required for this classification
