Senior Payroll Analyst

Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter authority for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
Oversee and process complex payroll transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations
Conduct detailed audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors to resolve escalated payroll issues
Support tax filings, year-end processing, and regulatory reporting requirements
Maintain and update payroll process documentation and standard operating procedures
Analyze payroll data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Test and implement system enhancements, upgrades, or new payroll functionality in collaboration with HRIS or IT
Provide training, guidance, and support to payroll team members
Respond to complex employee and management inquiries regarding payroll policies and practices
Stay current on payroll guidelines, tax laws, and regulatory updates to support compliance

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including complex multi-state or multi-country payrolls
Deep understanding of multi-state payroll processing, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management abilities; able to handle multiple deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP) and advanced Excel skills
Ability to handle sensitive payroll data with confidentiality and integrity. High level of professionalism

Preferred

Prevailing wage experience strongly desired
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or progress toward certification preferred
Prior experience leading or mentoring payroll team members is a plus
Experience working with large employee populations and third-party payroll providers preferred
