The Conservationist I will lead and mentor young adults in various conservation projects, ensuring their growth and safety while collaborating with partner agencies.

Responsibilities

Guide and mentor young adults through hands-on conservation work, emergency response, and personal development
Lead project planning and execution across a range of natural resource assignments
Ensure safety, quality, and Corpsmember growth
Collaborate with partner agencies
Support training and onboarding
Help Corpsmembers build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the field and beyond

Required

Commercial Driver License – Provide evidence that a Commercial Class C license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle special endorsement, or equivalent, has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Pre-employment Drug Test – Pass a urine drug test. In accordance with the Federal Highway Administration regulations (49 CFR, Part 382), persons hired to a class requiring a commercial driver license must take and pass a pre-employment drug test
Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
Medical Exam – a medical clearance examination is required for this classification

Preferred

Coaching and/or Mentoring experience
Electrical, or general construction, experience
Ability to prioritize deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Leadership skills
Experience in natural resource management, education, or youth development
Strong communication skills
Ability to work outdoors in various conditions
