IT Radio System Technician
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is one of the most successful airports in the world, seeking an IT Radio System Technician to enhance radio communications at the airport. Responsibilities
Assists in development and maintenance systems that facilitate the smooth operation of DFW Airport Terminals, specifically, but not limited to, critical communication systems in the areas of passenger services, airfield operations and radio communications
Assists with the translation of functional specifications into detailed technical Radio systems designs
Performs development and testing of Radio systems
Provides support to DFWIA agencies related to tactical and secure communications
Assists with development of maintenance plans and provides technical advice to integrate technological applications to enhance operational requirements
Serves as troubleshooter and trainer to resolve operational and technical problems for radio systems users
Identifies technical issues with radio communications experienced by users, designs modifications and enhancements to improve the effectiveness of communications systems; provides briefings on proposed modifications or enhancements for implementation
Programs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the following LMR assets: NEC microwave components, EFJ P-25 radio system, and Zetron consoles
Sets up, configures, and uses complex instrumentation to perform communication tests and maintenance
Ensures that current and future systems that are planned, developed, are compatible with existing systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information technology or related field
Four (4) years of experience with EF Johnson RF systems and components
Zetron console technical knowledge
Basic knowledge of ES Chat equipment
Ability to program EFJ radios
Ability to pull management reports from the EFJ radio system
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above
Possession of a valid class C driver's license
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public safety radio communications, and end-user support issues
Knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration
Knowledge of current computer technology (Windows, Active Directory, Virtualization, Server architecture)
Ability to use Excel, Word and other office programs
Ability to be on call 24/7
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
Ability to identify technical issues with radio communications experienced by users
Ability to propose modifications and enhancements to improve the effectiveness of communications systems and ensures implementation
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. Al. and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal
Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal
Preferred
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licenses
Related technology certifications in RF best practices or other industry recognized certifications in related Radio field
Experience with the principles and practices of information security
Experience with Public Safety Emergency Communication Systems
Experience with and/or certification in Public Safety Systems and NFPA 1221
