Responsibilities

Handles and maintains equipment including but not limited to - mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilators, high flow nasal cannula system, humidifiers, air-oxygen blenders, flowmeters, pulse oximeters, end tidal monitoring equipment, cough assist devices, spirometers, syringe pumps, respiratory specific aerosolized medication delivery devices, peak flow meters, airway clearance devices, hand percussors, bedside spirometers, medical gas cylinders, rolling carts, disposable equipment for treatment and supplemental O2 delivery, bronchoscopes
Participates in Entity and Department wide initiatives for Patient /Employee safety. Demonstrates an awareness of patient/ employee safety when carrying out daily responsibilities of their position
Responsible for keeping the departmental equipment area neat and organized and floor equipment areas stocked and organized
Responsible for processing all dirty respiratory care equipment, assuring that it is cleaned, sterilized and readied for the next use, according to departmental standards
Collaborates with the Respiratory staff to identify their equipment needs and appropriately meets these needs
Maintains manifold room gas systems assuring adequate pressures and gas levels. Monitors these levels daily and monitors Liquid Oxygen levels
Safely maintains inventory of medical gas cylinders and the proper functioning of regulators. Ensures the adequate supply and distribution to all other departments and areas. Responsible for identifying low levels and notifying manager or O2 supplier

Basic Cardiac Life SupportAdvanced Cardiac Life SupportNeonatal Resuscitation ProgramRespiratory Therapy knowledgeEquipment maintenance

Required

Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
5+ years of experience or 8+ years of equivalent experience
Knowledge of the policy and procedures of the Respiratory Therapy department

Preferred

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)
