Responsibilities
Ensures all films have proper catalog coding, indicating date, year, names and other pertinent patient information
As requested, copies and releases patient films and/or reports to requesting party in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. Obtains proper documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Files films, master jackets and reports in proper sequence after interpretation, in appropriate location
Ensures the scopes are loaded with films for physician interpretation. Retrieves films after dictation and returns to appropriate location in a timely manner
Separates, distributes and charts transcribed reports to nursing floor units, physicians offices, and other locations on a designated schedule
Separates and mails outpatient transcribed reports to referring physicians in a timely manner
Demonstrates knowledge and proper us of the HBOC Star Radiology Film Library Program
Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of the PACS Digital Radiology System
Demonstrates the ability to retrieve / scan films to /from the PACS Digital Radiology System. In addition, can 'push' images to other locations throughout the Medical Center, as required
Demonstrates proper window level competency & knowledge when choosing required window level fields for specific procedures
Displays ability to adjust to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times
Works overtime in times of hospital or departmental emergency situations (i.e.. Hurricane disaster alert or staffing limitations)
Informs supervisor of incomplete tasks or unusual events, which may warrant attention as necessary
Attends monthly department staff meetings
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
One year film librarian experience preferred
Good visual acuity and depth perception is necessary
