Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Engineering
Utility Technology Engineers-Consultants, PLLC is an established design engineering and consulting firm located in southeast U.S. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Engineering to lead electrical design projects and ensure effective communication with clients and team members.
Responsibilities
Lead team member working on electrical design projects from the conceptual and study stage through completion of construction
Projects typically include electric power substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, load-side generation facilities, SCADA systems, fiber optic communication systems, and industrial distribution systems. System studies typically include short circuit, arc flash, protective coordination, load flow, cost of service, rate, and economic feasibility. Person in this position must Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Prepare electrical packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations
Review electrical equipment, vendor drawings, and data
Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers
Participate in project schedule development, scope, budget staffing, and construction planning
Responsible for effective management of change orders
Apply expert knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry
Apply knowledge and experience in complex projects and finding both standard and non-standard design solutions
Quality Control review of production drawings, calculations, and specifications
Oversee construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of electrical systems
Leads field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients
Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications
Build effective relationships with existing clients and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction goals and expectations are met
Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits
Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance
Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the electrical engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers
Responsible for QA/QC (quality assurance/quality control) process adherence
Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines
Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
BS Electrical Engineering
Minimum five years' work in power engineering environment
Registered Professional Engineer, preferred; or must be willing to become a Registered Professional Engineer, when qualified
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
Ability to travel approximately 15% of time
Preferred
Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis are highly desirable
Working knowledge with power systems analysis to conduct short circuit/Arc Flash/Breaker coordination studies (including software applications of SKM) is highly desirable
Experience with NFPA, IEEE, and NETA testing standards and practices
