Quality Inspector

They are seeking a dedicated Quality Inspector/CWI to coordinate inspection activities, ensure compliance with quality standards, and maintain meticulous records of inspection results in their manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Coordinate inspection activities between the production team and DOT inspectors to ensure witnessing of production operations and QC hold points are completed accurately and timely
Perform visual inspections of materials and components as required, ensuring compliance with quality standards
Conduct layout checks and dimensional inspections of shop assemblies using appropriate tools, including Total Station when necessary
Perform rotational capacity tests on bolts prior to their use in shop assemblies to ensure safety and quality
Work collaboratively with outside inspectors to resolve quality issues on the shop floor, facilitating swift corrective actions
Monitor welder qualification tests and record welding parameters to verify adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
Read and interpret welding codes, specifications, and related standards to ensure compliance in all inspection activities
Develop and implement improvements in the quality control processes to enhance workflow efficiency and product quality
Maintain detailed logs of inspection activities, non-conformance reports, and other relevant documentation
Assist in planning inspection schedules and coordinate with shipping to ensure inspected loads are ready for dispatch
Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and encouraging safe work habits among team members
Be flexible to work either early or late within the assigned shift to meet operational needs

Required

Must hold a valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
Strong understanding of welding codes, specifications, and quality standards
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding procedures, and specifications
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records and reports
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and external inspectors
Ability to work flexible hours, including early or late shifts within the assigned schedule

Preferred

NACE or BCI Certification is preferred but not mandatory
Experience with dimensional inspection tools, including Total Station, is desirable
Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
