Controls Technician

Responsibilities

Assist in the startup and commissioning of Distributed Digital Control (DDC) systems, within planned timelines, at the client’s job site
Coordinate work with the Lead Technician or Project Manager to adhere to project schedules and timelines
Review and modify control systems programming as needed to resolve inconsistencies in the programming or sequence of operations
Document and communicate all commissioning details, deficiencies, modifications, and progress to the Lead Technician or Project Manager
Assist in the set-up and configuration of all PC workstations, tablets, monitoring equipment and applicable user interfaces
Conduct, verify, inspect, and certify systems performance following project specifications
Develop and provide plans, control systems documents, and markups to client at the end of the project
Coordinate with other trades or contractors in system start up and operations
Complete and submit assigned administrative tasks, including but not limited to, time sheets, expense reports, and other project or on-site documentation on time
Adhere to all local, company, client, and OSHA safety policies and procedures

Required

Experience installing and servicing electronic control or commercial HVAC equipment
Electro-mechanical experience (either in an earlier role or through education) and user PC/software skills
Ability to read, understand, and interpret design and construction documents
Must be comfortable and able to work in a variety of environments including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, and ceilings; on rooftops and in basements; and in all weather conditions
Must be proficient in the use of various hand tools; a laptop or tablet; and other diagnostic and testing equipment and software
Ability to and willingness to work overtime as needed and a rotational on-call schedule
You must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license, with limited violations; and must meet BCE's insurance requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred

High School diploma or state-recognized GED required, Certificate, Associates, or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Two years' experience installing and servicing commercial HVAC equipment, HVAC controls, building automation controls, and building management systems (BMS)
Experience with, or certifications in Niagara N4, BACnet, Desigo, TIA, ABT, or other systems and software
