Engineering Service Technician
Professional Packaging Systems (Pro Pac) is looking for an Engineering Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize packaging machinery at customer sites. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems to ensure equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
Install, commission, and configure packaging machinery and systems
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance and repairs on a wide range of equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues
Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and internal teams
Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
Document service activities, parts usage, and customer interactions accurately
Train customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance
Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to resolve technical issues and enhance service quality
Travel to customer sites as required
Qualification
Required
Strong multi-disciplinary troubleshooting skills (electrical, mechanical, controls)
In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems (480V 3-phase, 220V, 110V)
Proficiency with PLCs and field components (photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, timers)
Experience with servo motors, drives, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Basic understanding of control logic (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagrams)
Familiarity with machine timing systems and encoder synchronization
Ability to assess and prioritize repair needs effectively
Proven ability to respond to service calls with urgency and professionalism
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to industrial best practices
Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer-based documentation tools
Ability to travel daily to customer sites within the metroplex
Ability to travel up to 15% out of town, including overnight stays and occasional weekends
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Valid passport or ability to obtain one
Possession and maintenance of appropriate personal hand tools
High school diploma required
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial or packaging equipment
Preferred
College or technical education is a plus
Fluency in English (written, spoken, and reading comprehension) required
Spanish language skills (written and verbal) are a plus
