PNT Simulation Software Engineer (SBIR Phase I – Conditional)
CERANA Systems LLC is a research-focused startup developing resilient navigation architectures for GPS-denied environments, and they are seeking a hands-on simulation software engineer to implement the Phase I modeling framework. The role involves building a physics-informed navigation simulator using Python or MATLAB, focusing on platform kinematics, nonlinear estimation, and Monte Carlo scenario generation.
Aviation & Aerospace
Responsibilities
You will be the primary implementer of a physics-informed navigation simulator, including:
Python or MATLAB simulation framework (you choose)
Platform kinematics (position, velocity, attitude)
Nonlinear estimator (EKF / UKF / batch acceptable)
Monte Carlo scenario generation
Injection of noise + structured bias (clock drift, geometry errors, propagation effects)
Parametric antenna baseline modeling
Altitude / velocity sweeps
Convergence + observability analysis
Result plots (CEP, failure boundaries, sensitivity)
You will be supported by senior advisors in RF/interferometry, signal processing, and navigation estimation — but you are responsible for building and maintaining the Phase I simulation codebase
Qualification
Required
Strong Python or MATLAB programming
Hands-on EKF / nonlinear estimation experience
Monte Carlo simulation experience
Comfortable modeling sensor noise + bias
Ability to work independently from technical guidance
Background in aerospace, robotics, navigation, or applied estimation
Preferred
GNSS or alternative PNT experience
Sensor fusion background
Allan variance / clock modeling
Atmospheric / propagation modeling
Prior SBIR or research projects
