Hands-on experience with enterprise storage
Dell Unity
Dell Data Domain
Storage provisioning, performance tuning, troubleshooting
Strong VMware experience (ESXi, vCenter)
Exposure to HCI (vSAN / Nutanix)
Experience in private cloud / on-prem virtualization (not cloud-only)
Hands-on experience with production data center environments
Troubleshooting mission-critical outages
Infrastructure refresh / modernization projects
Demonstrates fundamentals-first diagnostic approach
Can troubleshoot application issues from infra angle
Understands app dependencies on:
Storage
Compute
OS
Virtualization
Network (basic)
Experience with cross-stack root cause analysis
Understands server–storage–network connectivity
Can identify when issues are likely network-related
Comfortable working with network teams
Not positioning themselves as a network specialist
Familiar with enterprise backup concepts
Has supported backups for critical systems
Understands restore, RPO/RTO at a practical level
PowerShell scripting experience
Bash / Shell scripting experience
Automates routine infra tasks
Awareness of IaC tools (Terraform / Ansible) — optional
Uses infrastructure monitoring tools
Knows what should be monitored and why
Works with monitoring teams (not a tool admin)
Understands end-to-end infrastructure integration
Has designed solutions and implemented them
Remains operationally hands-on
Senior-level judgment and ownership mindset
Mentors / guides junior engineers
Works cross-functionally (apps, network, vendors)
Experience coordinating offshore / outsourced teams
Comfortable owning a regional infrastructure footprint
Comfortable with 5 days onsite
Willing to support on-call / off-hours incidents
Experience working across time zones
Global / multi-geo environment exposure
Manufacturing or similar industrial environment
Mid-size / lean IT org experience
ITIL process familiarity (cert optional)

Required
Enterprise Storage (Critical)
Dell Storage platforms (specifically Dell Unity and Dell Data Domain)
Storage architecture, provisioning, troubleshooting
Understanding storage-to-server and storage-to-VM connectivity
Virtualization
VMware (core requirement)
Hyperconverged infrastructure concepts (e.g., Nutanix, VMware HCI / vSAN)
Private cloud virtualization (not public-cloud focused)
Windows Server administration
Linux administration (Red Hat, Ubuntu; Rocky Linux familiarity acceptable)
Balanced depth expected (approx. 60/40 either way; not 80/20)
Hands-on data center technologies (not end-user computing)
Troubleshooting production and mission-critical systems
Diagnosing performance issues, outages, and infrastructure failures
Refreshing, optimizing, and modernizing infrastructure platforms
Strong fundamentals-first troubleshooting mindset
Ability to diagnose application issues from an infrastructure perspective
Storage, OS, virtualization, network dependencies
Understand how applications interact with infrastructure
Root cause analysis across: Storage, Compute, OS, Virtualization, Networking (basic level)
Basic understanding of: How networks connect servers and storage
Network dependencies affecting infrastructure
Ability to collaborate with network teams and articulate potential network-related issues
Familiarity with enterprise backup concepts and tooling
Experience supporting critical system backups
Scripting capability expected (not a dedicated DevOps role)

Ability to: Lead and guide junior engineers, Work cross-functionally (apps, network, vendors), Collaborate with business stakeholders, Experience coordinating with outsourced / offshore IT teams, Comfortable being the primary regional infrastructure owner
On-site role (5 days expected)
Not a strict 9–5 role; on-call support as needed
Supports globally distributed environments (multiple geographies)
Comfortable working across time zones

Manufacturing industry familiarity
Experience in globally distributed / multi-site environments
Background in mid-sized or lean IT teams (Tier-2 style orgs preferred over highly siloed enterprises)
ITIL-based operational discipline (certification helpful, not mandatory)
