Accounting Supervisor

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the division’s accounting team —setting direction for daily fiscal workflows and building a high-performing, service-oriented finance operation
Drive fiscal strategy by leading spending plan development and projection cycles, consolidating technical files, validating assumptions, and providing strategic guidance to division leadership
Certify and approve reconciliations, journal vouchers, budget revisions, line-item transfers, federal/RSA drawdowns, grant fiscal submissions, spending plan modules, Alaska Budget System (ABS) and Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) financial system entries, and consolidated projection files
Manage grant and revenue operations by overseeing the division’s grant inventory and reporting calendar, ensuring timely, accurate submissions and compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, and federal regulations
Coordinate audits and enhance internal controls by preparing documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and implementing recommendations to ensure accuracy, compliance and robust fiscal integrity

Required

Experience in organizational accounting policies and procedures
Knowledge of GAAP
Leadership style that elevates clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement
Experience in leading and mentoring an accounting team
Experience in fiscal strategy development and projection cycles
Ability to certify and approve reconciliations, journal vouchers, budget revisions, line-item transfers, federal/RSA drawdowns, grant fiscal submissions, spending plan modules, Alaska Budget System (ABS) and Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) financial system entries, and consolidated projection files
Experience in managing grant and revenue operations
Knowledge of internal controls principles, methods, and techniques
Ability to coordinate audits and enhance internal controls
Experience in analysis and assessment using information technology
Knowledge of financial analysis principles, methods, and techniques
Knowledge of principles of accounting, including the full accounting cycle and preparation of financial statements
Ability to reason and analyze information to draw accurate conclusions
Technical competence in understanding and evaluating technical information related to the job
Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management
Three (3) professional references including two (2) current or former supervisors
A copy of academic transcripts to verify education
Copies of your two (2) most recent performance evaluations or a supervisor letter of recommendation as a substitute
