Administrative Support Technician (Office Automation)

Responsibilities
Provide staff with guidance on how to properly operate within office procedures
Maintain calendars for staff
Maintain a suspense log for all actions in accordance to office procedures
Prepare Request for Personnel Actions for submission using automated systems
Maintain office files, including personnel files on military and civilian employees, IAW regulatory guidance
Serve as timekeeper providing advice to supervisors on time and leave procedures
Review documents prepared for Commander's signature ensuring compliance with regulations
Screen telephone calls and visitors to refer/direct customers to appropriate staff/office
Process mail to include distribution to appropriate staff members and post office
Create a variety of reports for submission to higher headquarters using a variety of office software packages
Assist newly assigned personnel in processing and completing required forms
Communicate with Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) to determine status of personnel actions

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, including: Providing clerical support (i.e., screening telephone calls/visitors, maintaining office calendars, maintaining records or files, etc.) for the office; Preparing office correspondence, ensuring grammatical correctness, for the staff; Assisting in creating personnel actions and/or performance appraisals; Utilizing office automation software to prepare various types of documents (i.e., spreadsheets, reports, graphs, charts, statistical data, etc.); Assisting with the onboarding process of military and/or civilian personnel by gathering required documents
A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05)
If you are a current Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement
