Responsibilities

Design and adapt holistic on-robot sensing solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements
Mentor and develop junior scientists and engineers
Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
Have responsibility for the designs and performance of a sensing system design
Work with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a fast development and delivery of the sensing concepts to the team
Develop overall safety concept of the sensing platform
Exhibit role model behaviors of applied science best practices, thorough and predictive analysis and cradle to grave ownership

Qualification

PhD in Computer VisionTechnical leadership in sensing systemsDeep knowledge of sensingHands-on experience with prototypesSafety certificationExperience communicating conceptsExperience evaluating design performanceExperience working with interdisciplinary teams

Required

Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing operations environment
PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, AI, or Electrical engineering
Technical leadership in conceptualization, design and development of sensing systems
Strong Interest in sensing systems to support safe robot operation
Deep knowledge of sensing and signal processing, estimation, computer vision, or machine learning
Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes
Thorough understanding and use of principles, theories and concepts of perceptual analysis, as well as ability to apply them to system design
Experience communicating concepts to leadership and writing technical documents
Experience evaluating design, performance and tradeoffs of perceptual computing systems

Preferred

Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product concept with an eye for production
Demonstrated experience collaborating with Mechanical, Electrical and Controls engineers
Experience with safety certification of sensing systems
Experience with using sensing modalities in robot control
