Transit Power Line Worker (7366) - SF Municipal Transportation Agency (T00146)
The City and County of San Francisco is looking for a Transit Power Line Worker to perform skilled line work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of transit power systems. This role involves working with high voltage electrical distribution lines and requires considerable physical effort and dexterity.

Responsibilities
Strings, rigs and repairs electrical lines, cables, wires and related switches, including aluminum and copper conductors and support wires, under energized and de-energized conditions and in heavy traffic
Inspects overhead lines and circuits to identify and assess faulty lines or worn parts for on-site or later repair and replacement, including removing trees or other obstructions
Installs and maintains underground and overhead electrical systems/facilities and supporting structures
Repairs and replaces poles, cross arms, insulators and related hardware under energized and de-energized conditions, and in heavy traffic or in underground and subway stations
Digs foundations; sets, plumbs and anchors poles
Responds to emergency road call requests
Maintains routine records
Drives City vehicles
Performs related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Completion of a State certified Electrical Line Worker apprenticeship program recognized by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Two (2) years of full time verifiable journey-level electrical line worker experience in the installation, maintenance and operation of high voltage (above 600 volts) power transmission and distribution systems
Five (5) years of full time verifiable journey-level electrician experience as defined by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of which two (2) years must have been assisting in the installation, maintenance and operation of high voltage (above 600 volts) power transmission and distribution systems
Possession of a valid driver license
Must obtain a Class B driver license within six months of appointment
Benefits
Signing Bonus and Relocation Reimbursement: Newly hired employees appointed full-time before June 30, 2027, into the Overhead Line classifications of 7235, 7310, or 7366, are eligible for a one-time $20,000 signing bonus.
Candidates who live over one hundred (100) miles outside of the geographic boundaries of the City and County of San Francisco and who relocate in connection with an appointment to an Overhead Line Classification are eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses up to $20,000.
