Senior UX/UI Designer
Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, and they are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to design, develop, and implement digital applications and experiences. The role involves gathering and analyzing business needs, enhancing existing applications, and leading design thinking activities to inform digital solution development.

Gather, analyze, and document business needs and feature requirements
Design, develop, and implement digital applications that meet user and business goals
Support, maintain, and enhance existing digital applications to improve usability and performance
Lead and facilitate design thinking activities to inform digital solution development
Qualification
Required
Creativity: Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
Web Software Design: Knowledge of web software design; ability to design, develop, maintain and enhance web-based or web-enabled software
Human-Centered Design (HCD): Knowledge of Human-Centered Design model, principle, and concepts; ability to understand the perspective of people who experience a problem, their needs, and provide them with a solution which truly meets their needs effectively
User Experience Design: Knowledge of user experience design tools, techniques and approaches; ability to design applications that are valued, positively perceived and used by clients
User Interface Design: Knowledge of activities, practices, deliverables and considerations; ability to design effective graphic user interfaces for delivery of information to the client's desktop workstation

Computer Software Industry Knowledge (Working Knowledge): Understands customer segments and competitive product landscapes. Explains industry best practices and key development processes. Recognizes common challenges in software development
Web Software Design (Extensive Experience): Understands core challenges in designing web‑based applications. Evaluates and selects technologies for integrating media and web services. Addresses security, risk, and infrastructure considerations. Contributes to large or multiple web‑based software projects
Human‑Centered Design (Working Knowledge): Defines problems clearly and without assumptions. Encourages open idea sharing and user feedback. Gathers user insights to propose meaningful solutions. Creates prototypes and refines them based on sponsor user input
User Experience (UX) Design (Extensive Experience): Provides guidance on UX best practices across workloads and mental models. Selects appropriate tools and methods for persona‑driven design. Creates prototypes, navigation structures, scenarios, and specifications. Coaches others on evaluating design effectiveness
User Interface (UI) Design (Extensive Experience): Produces high‑quality UI designs and documentation. Develops wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and task flows. Manages graphic tools and maintains design standards. Advises on typography, navigation, and structural considerations
Web Trends & Directions (Extensive Experience): Evaluates the effectiveness of current web tools and services. Identifies and plans for emerging web technologies and trends. Develops guidelines and documentation for future web initiatives. Analyzes new business models tied to digital services
