Senior Accounting Systems Analyst - Fully Remote!

The Senior Accounting Systems Analyst acts as a key liaison between the Accounting/Finance and IT departments, responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's accounting and financial systems.
Education Management
Responsibilities
System Administration & Support: Serve as the primary authority for core financial applications (e.g., ERP, consolidation, and reporting tools). Provide daily production support, identify and fix user-reported issues, and lead system configurations
Process Improvement: Analyze current accounting processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend system-based solutions or enhancements to improve accuracy, automate tasks, and strengthen internal controls
Project Management: Lead and support financial system projects, including new module implementations, system upgrades, and patches. This includes gathering business requirements, creating specifications, and coordinating with technical teams
Testing & Validation: Develop and complete test plans for system changes, fixes, and improvements to ensure functionality meets business requirements and that data integrity is maintained
Reporting & Analysis: Design, develop, and maintain complex financial reports and dashboards to support business needs, financial analysis, and decision-making
Liaison: Act as the main link between the finance users and the technology division, translating complex accounting requirements into technical specifications
Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, business process flows, and user training materials. Conduct training sessions for new and existing users
Compliance & Security: Assist in ensuring that all financial systems and processes align with internal policies, GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements. Manage user access and security roles within the financial applications
Financial Close Support: Provide technical support during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes to ensure system availability and timely resolution of issues
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years in a similar role (e.g., financial systems analyst, accounting systems administrator, or senior accountant with a heavy systems focus
Advanced proficiency with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics)
Demonstrable experience with financial reporting and business intelligence (BI) tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data modeling)
Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis is often required
Good understanding of core accounting principles (GAAP) and financial processes (e.g., General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting)
Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls as they relate to financial systems
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users
Proven project management and organizational skills
