Responsibilities

Support customers across the life cycle of nuclear science and engineering Research and Development (R&D) programs as a senior technical Science, Engineering, and Technology Adviser (SETA)
Apply technical subject matter expertise or market knowledge to guide the development and growth of publicly financed R&D programs
Characterize the state of a technical field, including identifying state-of-the-art technologies and promising new technological approaches
Perform technical analyses to recommend technology performance for nuclear-related technologies
Review highly technical proposals and support negotiations of selected projects, including advising on project plans, technical milestones for long lead time, and complex R&D projects
Perform direct, periodic oversight of portfolio projects' technical aspects, from start to close out, aiding the client in managing projects towards clear and compelling outcomes

Required

10+ years of experience in a leadership role
Experience in nuclear weapon system acquisition and sustainment programs within DoD and DOE
Experience with nuclear air-delivered, ground systems, and command and control systems
Experience with government agencies across the DoD and DoE nuclear enterprise
Ability to demonstrate authorship of technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research related to nuclear engineering, nuclear weapon systems, or counter-chemical and biological efforts
Ability to provide technical support, advice, and assistance conducting, directing, or assisting with R&D in the engineering, design, development, and implementation of nuclear programs or projects
TS/SCI clearance
Master's degree in Physics or Engineering
Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) Certification

Ability to establish and manage collaborative R&D activities with industry for innovative nuclear system technologies based on priorities that reflect technical, licensing, and business assessments
Ability to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness when dealing with uncertainty and ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking
Ability to develop and communicate meaningful insights, significant contributions, and recommendations to address complex client issues
Ability to learn, grow, and develop new skills
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Possession of excellent data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
