Sr. Optical Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and development of optical systems based on optic, photonic and laser technologies
Specifying, selecting and qualifying optical components
Building and testing of prototype optical systems and work closely together with the hardware and software teams to integrate this in the full system prototype
Benchmark optical system performance and develop and implement test procedures
Productize the optical system design for robustness, ease of use, manufacturability, serviceability and regulatory compliance
Generate design and product documentation
Provide multi-discipline support to production and service by resolving technical issues related to lasers, optical parts and sub-systems

Required

Candidates must have a MS degree, or higher, from an accredited program in optics, applied physics, or related field with at least 2yrs of relevant work experience; or a PhD without experience
Experience in the specification, design, and evaluation of optical sub-systems utilizing active and passive optical components including lenses, mirrors, lasers, optical detectors and manual/automated methods of adjustment
Hands-on experience in aligning optical systems, including infrared based systems
Knowledge of problem solving methodologies, industry standards and regulations strongly desired
Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment required
Should be hard working, team oriented, bright, creative, driven to push the boundaries of technology!

Preferred

The preferred candidate will have experience with ultrafast laser material processing and system design experience including DUV, infrared and other lasers technologies in the context of processing equipment, industrial metrology or similar products
System modeling experience with programs such as SolidWorks, Matlab, LabView is desired, as is experience with optical simulation tools such as ZEMAX
