IT Systems Administrator - Hardware Infrastructure - IMTO
Cumberland County, PA is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to install, maintain, and support County server hardware and applications. The role involves troubleshooting, administering backup systems, and ensuring system performance while adhering to best practices.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and provides technical support for various computer and server related equipment, infrastructure, software and applications
Manages Virtual and Physical Server Infrastructure and Storage Area Networks
Implement various SSL Certificates and yearly certificate renewals
License and Software Lifecycle Compliance
Maintains Uninterrupted Power Supply systems for server hardware infrastructure countywide, including implementing and optimizing availability of all UPSs, monitoring environmental conditions/controls within County server rooms/data centers
Establishes and maintains system performance baselines, corrects system errors, continuously monitors and maintains disk space, memory usage overall performance for all servers and server based group policy objects
Responds quickly to notifications of outages, warnings of server systems, both from network monitor and management
Administers backup and disaster recovery systems
Manages Server Systems Patching, including manual and automated patch schedules for all server infrastructure, including ERP and GIS systems
Administers, updates, patches, and maintains SQL Servers including assigning database permissions and managing maintenance plans
Assists with escalated support cases to the Systems & Development Team
Occasional assistance with application leveraging/training systems and software application monthly maintenance
Develops, updates, and maintains contingency documentation and provides training to internal IMTO employees and County employees to leverage technology
Works directly alongside the IT Systems Administrators in a team based, collaborative environment
Works with IT Manager and vendor to ensure contracts, maintenance and warranties are properly implemented
Evaluates, recommends, tests, and implements new technologies and products to improve service levels
Coordinates purchases and projects with vendors and customers
Administers network accounts access and user privileges
Answers phones for department when needed
Assists with Elections support of hardware or software
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Associates degree or 5-10 years of work experience in technical support / information technology will be considered
Microsoft or CompTIA Certifications a plus
1-3 years work experience in technical support / information technology
Must be able to comprehend and speak the English language in an understandable manner in order to carry out essential functions of job
Must possess ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
Must be able to successfully interact with internal system users to facilitate user administration and troubleshoot user and/or system problems
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to speak in public setting
Must be able to work effectively with several levels of government officials, agencies, external agencies, and staff
Must possess the ability to work independently, have flexibility, and work with little supervision within a team environment
Must possess initiative and problem solving skills
Must possess the ability to teach, coach, and interact with both novice and advanced system users in one-on-one and group setting
Must possess technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, current operating systems and networking
Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to work-related information and records
Must possess valid driver's license and travel occasionally between County facilities or other locations as needed
Must possess the ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions
Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting and reaching necessary to carry out duties of job
Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs; torso necessary to carry out duties of job
Sedentary to medium work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of fifty (50) pounds
Must demonstrate emotional stability, pay close attention to details and concentrate on work
Must be able to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position
