Responsibilities
Perform daily irrigation operations, as assigned by the Irrigation Manager or Irrigator 2; maintain open communication about daily water requirements, daily irrigation run times, the work schedule, and operational challenges
Be proactive in anticipating water requirements according to weather and plant needs
Assist the Irrigation Manager and Irrigator 2 in daily, monthly, and annual data collection to create records for water, fertigation, and use of water enhancement products
Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned
Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor
Work with others on the irrigation team to implement a thorough preventative maintenance program for all system components
Maintain and clean all equipment daily; identify and correct performance problems and make repairs and adjustments or report necessary equipment repairs to the mechanic or supervisor
Help to maintain up-to-date as-built and databases
Perform daily vehicle refueling and reloading of materials
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
One year golf course maintenance experience preferred
Has a basic understanding of the game of golf and understand the need for attention to quality while working as an Irrigator to create optimal playing conditions
Ability to gain, and demonstrate, a thorough working knowledge of irrigation system components, including clean up
Ability to gain an understanding of reading, analyzing, and interpreting as-built, reports, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory documents
Ability to identify and learn to correct performance problems and complete repairs and adjustments to system components, including heads, valves, pumps, pipe, wire, tubes, fittings, pump house, computer operation system, filters, water enhancement system, fertigation, valve boxes, quick couplers, and controllers
Willingness to learn new skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate positively and effectively with team members and supervisors about job tasks and responsibilities
Must be willing to accept responsibility for tasks, actions, and decisions; ability to make good decisions based on sound judgement
Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness a must
Attend educational seminars to stay current with leading technology, as requested
This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekend
Valid driver's license may be required to operate some vehicles
Preferred
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
