Cabling And Access Control
TEKsystems is a leading provider of business and technology services, and they are seeking a cabling/access control technician to support major commercial projects across the Charleston region. The role involves installing, servicing, and troubleshooting low-voltage systems and access control installations, ensuring high-quality service and communication with project managers.
Information Technology
Responsibilities
Install, service, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems, including Cat5/Cat6, fiber, and structured cabling
Perform access control installations (Lenel, S2, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon)
Install and configure VMS systems (IP/analog cameras, head-end equipment)
Install and service door hardware, including:
+ Electrified locks
+ Readers
+ Strikes
+ Crash bars
+ Sensors
+ Door brakes
Work with commercial-grade hardware from Allegion and ASSA ABLOY
Complete terminations, testing, labeling, and documentation
Follow project plans when acting as part of a team or when the company serves as the GC
Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and strong communication with project managers
Travel to various job sites; technicians may park at Tanger Mall and ride in a company vehicle to the airport project
Report to the office and use company vehicles when work outside the Charleston area is required
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of experience as a cabling/access control technician
Experience with structured cabling, access control, CCTV, and door hardware installations
Ability to install, service, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems, including Cat5/Cat6, fiber, and structured cabling
Experience performing access control installations (Lenel, S2, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon)
Ability to install and configure VMS systems (IP/analog cameras, head-end equipment)
Experience installing and servicing door hardware, including electrified locks, readers, strikes, crash bars, sensors, and door brakes
Familiarity with commercial-grade hardware from Allegion and ASSA ABLOY
Ability to complete terminations, testing, labeling, and documentation
Ability to follow project plans when acting as part of a team or when the company serves as the GC
Strong communication skills with project managers
Willingness to travel to various job sites
Professional demeanor and strong customer service mindset
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Comfortable working in active construction environments
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
Reliable, coachable, and strong work ethic
Must have basic hand tools; specialized tools provided
