Responsibilities

Prepare detailed annual and multi-year budget estimates. This involves reviewing funding requests for accuracy, compliance with federal law, and alignment with mission objectives

Monitor the 'obligation' (commitment) and 'expenditure' (actual spending) of funds to ensure they stay within authorized levels. Analysts must track various funding types, such as direct annual, multi-year, and no-year appropriations

Conduct special studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the impact of program changes or new legislation on future funding needs

Serve as a technical consultant to commanders and program managers on resource distribution, funding shortfalls, and reprogramming actions (moving funds between accounts)

Utilize automated DoD financial systems, such as DEAMS or CRIS, to track data, perform quality checks, and maintain an audit trail for all transactions

Mastery of federal budget regulations, OMB circulars, and fiscal law
