Responsibilities
Drive the engineering project queue, ensuring fiber builds and network upgrades stay on schedule and under budget
Oversee the “Hand-off” process from infrastructure deployment to on-going support by the NOC, ensuring proper testing, training, and documentation are provided to support new infrastructure
Review network utilization trends and trigger preemptive upgrades to prevent congestion
Manage Tier 1 vendor relationships (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, etc.) to influence product roadmaps and pricing
Serve as the final internal escalation point for the NOC on complex, high-priority network outages or chronic performance issues
Review and approve technical quotes, work orders, and equipment requisitions in line with the approved CAPEX plan
Qualification
Required
Expert-level understanding of BGP, MPLS, DWDM, and Carrier Ethernet
Ability to translate complex network upgrades into 'business value' for executive stakeholders
Experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced environment where 'Product' and 'Network' must launch in sync
Able to explain technical roadblocks to non-technical departments
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent required
10+ years in Telecom/ISP/or Engineering role with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity
Proven success managing large-scale fiber deployments and complex IP migrations
Preferred
Master's/MBA preferred
Professional or Expert level certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP) are a major plus but not required if equivalent experience exists
