Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and support in materials and process engineering of cast and/or forged products
Support materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast/forged parts
Support new and existing cast and/or forged products
Participate in all phases of product development
Serve as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers
Regular interaction with suppliers to help resolve issues
Liaison work between suppliers and Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC)
Work with Design Engineering
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree within STEM, preferred with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
4+ years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting and/or forging industry
4+ years of experience with aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel aerospace cast and/or wrought alloys
Physical Requirement: May occasionally need to lift 35 pounds (single lift)
Preferred
Advanced degree in engineering or another related field (a plus)
Knowledge in castings, forgings, and/or general metallography
Understanding and hands-on experience in casting and/or forging
Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements, and approvals
Capable of assessing new suppliers and determining their strengths and weaknesses
Experience conducting casting and/or forging supplier audits
Working with and developing suppliers
Experience troubleshooting material and process issues and providing technical solutions
Understanding engineering drawings and requirements
Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement tools
Experience with casting and/or forging simulation tools like DEFORM
