Business Development Manager

Redwood Private Security (RPS) is dedicated to creating tailored security partnership programs that prioritize the needs of each client. The Business Development Manager will leverage a mix of online and in-person marketing and sales strategies to develop profitable security solutions for new accounts within an assigned territory, while maintaining strong client relationships and meeting sales goals.

Responsibilities

Identify, prospect, and secure new clients requiring private security services, including unarmed and armed guards, mobile patrols, event security, and site-specific coverage
Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand the company’s client base within the assigned territory
Conduct in-person and virtual client meetings to assess security needs, site risks, and operational requirements
Prepare and present customized security proposals, pricing, and service agreements tailored to client needs
Collaborate with operations and scheduling teams to ensure accurate staffing, smooth service implementation, and contract compliance
Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular follow-ups, service reviews, and performance evaluations
Monitor client satisfaction and proactively resolve concerns to support contract renewals and long-term partnerships
Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities, such as additional guard coverage, patrol services, or technology-based solutions
Track sales activity, pipeline progress, and revenue performance using CRM tools
Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
Stay informed on local market conditions, competitors, and industry trends related to private security services
Represent the company at networking events, trade shows, and community meetings to promote brand awareness
Develop pricing and business development strategies in collaboration with and under direction of the CEO
Participate in trade associations and trade shows and assist in other promotional efforts
Lead sales presentations to prospective clients
Develop and submit proposals and responses to prospect RFQs and RFPs after obtaining pricing and specifications approval from management, as appropriate

Required

Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within private security, law enforcement, or a related service-based industry
Demonstrated ability to develop new business and close contracts in competitive markets
Strong understanding of private security services, including guarding, patrol, event security, and access control operations
Experience conducting site assessments and translating security needs into effective service proposals
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
Deadline-driven and capable of managing multiple opportunities simultaneously
Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital sales tools
Ability to work independently while collaborating with operations and leadership teams
Knowledge of applicable licensing, compliance, and regulatory requirements for private security services (state and local)
Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in business, criminal justice, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Prior experience selling contract security services
Existing network of property managers, facility directors, or corporate clients
Security industry certifications or licenses (where applicable)
Minimum of 2 years of business-to-business selling experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the Company. Seven years or more of business management experience. Contract security management preferred
Persuasive in oral and written communications, including effective executive-level presentation skills
Demonstrated skills in the areas of consultative sales and business development
Demonstrated energy, drive, determination and persistence, even when confronted with rejection
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of potential or current clients, customers, and prospects
Ability to analyze sales data, industry trends and develop recommendations and solutions
Excellent flexibility in planning, organizing and time management
Ability to carry out multiple assignments concurrently
Be able to maintain strict confidentiality with company and prospective client information
