Senior Project Manager - Information Technology

South Texas College is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Information Technology to oversee the success of assigned technology projects. This role involves creating project plans, conducting risk assessments, managing project teams, and ensuring compliance with project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

Creates and executes full-scale project work plans and schedules as appropriate for the projects being initiated or managed by the Information Technology department
Performs risk assessment analysis. Based on assessment, develops project execution plan including work breakdown structure and project schedule in accordance with plans and specifications
Verifies with customer that project will be delivered on time, within budget and meet customer expectations
Proactively evaluates potential project problems and initiates action to limit negative outcomes. Uses project integration management to consistently resolve disputes without the need for escalation
Monitors and evaluates all project activities for compliance with project management methodologies, policies and procedures
Provides direction and support to project teams and office staff
Produces high quality communications adhering to college standards
Creates, maintains and archives all project documentation, from initiation to closure
Communicates with project customer(s) and key stakeholders project scope (costs, benefits, risk and schedule) and progress and effectively communicates financial and physical project status to management
Prepares and coordinates the preparation of periodic and special reports, including monthly and weekly activity reports, financial reports, Institutional Effectiveness plans and reports and other reports as assigned
Develops presentations for assigned projects and presents to faculty and staff
Assists with project resource management and departmental budgets in relation to project outcomes
Facilitates the IT Coordination Committee
Acts as team lead for the IT Project Management team
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
At least three (3) years of experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities required
Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills
Demonstrated knowledge in handling multiple projects, large budgets, making difficult decisions and implementing action plans in a cooperative yet responsive team environment to achieve desired goals
Proven excellence in planning, decision-making and organization
Proven background in the fields of information technology, project management, or business
Extensive practical knowledge on the use of project management software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
Demonstrated experience working with core software applications including Banner
A thorough understanding of issues that confront information services in higher education
Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations
Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation
Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Ability to respond to common inquiries or issues from internal/external clients, vendors and consultants
Ability to effectively present information to administrators, faculty and staff
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and/or act upon findings

Must have a valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance

Master's Degree preferred
Information technology project management certification (Project+, CAPM, PMP) or comparable, preferred
