System One is a leader in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America, and they are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site, contract-to-hire position. This role requires managing a pipeline of 50–60 loans per month while ensuring compliance with mortgage guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Underwrite loan files from origination through closing with accuracy and efficiency
Review and verify credit, income, asset, collateral, and appraisal documentation
Ensure loan files meet all current federal, state, investor, and agency guidelines
Clearly communicate conditions, decisions, and findings to processors and loan officers
Collaborate with the loan team to resolve issues and maintain smooth workflow
Stay up to date with mortgage regulations, requirements, and industry changes

Required

Minimum 3 years' experience underwriting Conventional, FHA (DE), and VA (SAR) loans
Strong proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
Positive, team-oriented attitude

Preferred

Experience with HUD 184 and USDA loans is a plus
Familiarity with GUS preferred
Experience with Encompass software preferred
Underwriting certifications preferred but not required
