Responsibilities
Own and optimize our Google BigQuery data warehouse infrastructure
Lead data engineering team (junior engineer) and provide technical mentorship
Manage data ingestion from multiple sources using various methods (APIs, streaming, batch)
Oversee data transformation workflows using dbt and orchestration via Apache Airflow
Evaluate current data architecture (including Data Vault 2.0 methodology) and recommend modernization strategies
Assess opportunities to streamline processes—potentially migrating to modern ELT tools like Fivetran
Build data literacy across analyst teams to enable self-service analytics
Reduce inefficiencies and optimize costs in current data pipelines
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
Deep expertise with Google BigQuery and cloud data warehouse architecture
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
Experience with dbt and Apache Airflow (or similar orchestration tools)
Proven track record of architectural decision-making and process optimization
Team leadership experience—ability to manage, mentor, and develop engineers
Strong communication skills to work with non-technical stakeholders
Strategic mindset: can evaluate existing systems and chart a path forward
Self-starter who thrives in a remote environment
