Lunar Terrain Vehicle – Engineering Intern

Leidos is involved with NASA in designing and building the next generation of lunar surface vehicles. They are seeking a talented Engineering Intern to support the Lunar Terrain Vehicle program, focusing on assembly, integration, and test activities.

Responsibilities

Support engineering design and execution activities for hardware integration and testing of LTV systems
Perform research on test methods and test requirements to identify appropriate test scope and pass/fail metrics
Work with vendors on manufacturing quotes and purchase orders
Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings for assembly tooling and test hardware/equipment
Produce assembly plans and procedures for hardware integration events
Produce test plans and procedures for test events
Prepare documents and deliverables for Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and post testing reports
Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications
Support project team(s) across multiple disciplines with the completion of document deliverables
Develop and execute trade studies for the LTV program

Required

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams
Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or similar Engineering field, from an ABET accredited college or university
Applicant must be a US Citizen
Applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30-lbs
Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools
Applicant must be willing to work in-office in Huntsville, AL
Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently
Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered
Experience with CAD software
Experience with Microsoft suite of office software(PowerPoint, Word, & Excel)

Preferred

Experience with PTC Creo or SolidWorks CAD software
Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers
