Responsibilities
Teach basic plumbing courses covering topics such as:
Plumbing tools and safety
Plumbing codes and standards
Pipe materials, fittings, and installation
Water supply and drainage systems for standard residential fixtures
Basic math, measurements, blueprint reading and basic layout
Deliver engaging classroom and lab instruction to diverse student populations
Emphasize safety, professionalism, and workplace best practices
Develop or follow approved course syllabi
Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
Maintain plumbing lab equipment and promote safety
Support student success, retention, and workforce readiness
Schedule courses, order textbooks and any other aspects to operate the program
Qualification
Required
Journeyman-level plumbing experience or higher
Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience
High school diploma or GED
Strong understanding of basic plumbing principles and codes
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to beginner-level students
Commitment to student learning and workforce preparation
Preferred
Five (5) years of relevant work experience
State plumbing license (Residential or Mechanical) or Journeyman certification
Teaching, training, or mentoring experience (formal or informal)
Experience working with apprentices or entry-level workers
Familiarity with community college or technical education environments
