Faculty Development Program Coordinator - Core Administration
Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Faculty Development Program Coordinator to support and implement faculty development strategies for the Department of Medicine. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to foster a community of engaged faculty and staff while providing administrative support for departmental initiatives and events.

Responsibilities
Provides administrative support for meetings, including taking meeting minutes and preparing presentations for the Vice Chair of Faculty Advancement and Community Engagement
Coordinates and supports virtual and in-person office events by managing speaker and guest communications, developing marketing materials and event logistics, securing event space, arranging catering, and administering post-event surveys
Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Faculty Promotions and Development Programs on faculty promotions, faculty development initiatives, the Young Faculty Mentoring Program, special projects, and analytical reporting
Works closely with the Vice Chair for Faculty Advancement and Community Engagement to implement the Department of Medicine’s strategic plan, including: Communication Strategy: website, listservs, newsletters; Increasing the Pipeline: advertising, networking, and community collaborations; Retention and Engagement: faculty development, mentoring, committees, lectures, workshops, and social events
Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies that support the mission of the office and key initiatives within the Department of Medicine
Drafts and implements recruiting and hiring strategies, guidelines, and tools for Divisions and hiring units to assist with faculty recruitment efforts
Develops, acquires, and delivers training and development tools to support faculty retention and professional growth
Provides guidance to Division Chiefs and departmental search committees on developing objective performance evaluations, recruitment standards, and departmental policies
Serves as the Department’s representative on external committees. Supports ERG (Employee Resource Group) representation for the Department of Medicine. Maintains current knowledge of best practices and provides training and policy updates to ensure departmental compliance
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., human resources, education, or social sciences), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation capabilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including demonstrated experience with Excel‑based data analysis
Experience using Canva to design and edit flyers, event announcements, and other informational materials
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and clearly communicate data
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality
Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and a high volume of detailed work simultaneously, while effectively prioritizing tasks
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with faculty and staff at all levels
Preferred
Master's degree in a healthcare‑related field may substitute for required experience
Prior experience working in higher education and healthcare environments
Experience supporting faculty appointments, promotions, and advancement processes
Experience administering faculty mentoring programs
Working knowledge of community engagement initiatives
