Responsibilities

Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures
Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration
Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission
Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance
Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space
Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale
Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.), with the desire to deepen expertise and broaden impact

Required

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
Experience creating English work instructions
Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required

Preferred

Master's degree in a relevant field
Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
Manufacturing engineering experience within aerospace or other high-reliability industries
Hands-on experience with assembly and integration of structures for aerospace applications, including launch vehicles and aircraft
Proven experience in designing, building, commissioning, and troubleshooting tooling and fixtures—including jigs, molds, automated tooling, and test fixtures—for manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes
Experience in analytical evaluation of tooling, structures, and mechanisms
Working knowledge of structural mechanics principles such as load path distribution, strength of materials, and interpreting finite element analysis (FEA)
Structural design experience using CAD software (CREO and/or CATIA preferred), hand calculations, and FEA tools
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including machining, welding, composites, and assembly
Ability to author detailed work instructions for implementation, maintenance, operation, and corrective actions for tooling and support systems
Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including practical knowledge of GD&T
Proficiency with PLM/MRP systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.)
Prior involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) or transition to production in an aerospace environment
Strong foundation in Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) and manufacturing process development for tooling and structural applications
Experience working with Bill of Materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation
Experience supporting requirements generation within Integrated Product Teams (IPT), including establishing and supporting Interface Control Models (ICMs)
Experience with manufacturing automation, digital work instructions, or advanced metrology (e.g., CMM, laser scanning)
Working knowledge of project management methodologies
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and customer satisfaction across geographically teams, customers, and suppliers
Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership to engineers and technicians
Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced production environment
