The Data Scientist I will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide statistical support for various clinical research projects, including study design and data analysis.

Responsibilities
Collaborates with investigators to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, and write statistical analysis plans
Provides statistical support for research using large administrative datasets among various other data sources
Supports data management and database maintenance for operational and research projects or efforts
Develops systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for monitoring the quality of different datasets
Develops programming code to analyze data using statistical analysis software including but not limited to R and SAS
Performs advanced statistical models including but not limited to linear regression models, generalized linear regression models, mixed regression models, multi-level data analysis, trend analyses and/or spatial/temporal analysis
Develop and present findings resulting from statistical models and analyses, including summary tables, graphs and charts, for routing report or scientific reporting in peer-reviewed publications
Perform literature review and support writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications
Present results to appropriate institutional committees and groups
Assist in supervising graduate student assistants when needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in health care, management, mathematics, engineering, informatics, or a related field
1 year of enterprise experience as a data scientist, informaticist, statistician, senior analyst or related role
Proficiency with statistical packages, data bases and programming languages for data preparation, storage, transformation, analysis or visualization. Examples include R, SAS, STATA, SPSS, Matlab, SQL, Python, Hadoop, Pig, Hive, MapReduce, Java Tableau, Excel or other big data frameworks
Ability to work with a wide variety of data formats/sources such as relational databases, XML, JSON, CSV, text, sensors/activity trackers, clickstreams, social media, and geolocation
Effective communication skills including written, oral, listening and interpersonal
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094
