Associate Android Engineer

Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and development of new features in our Android applications using Kotin and Jetpack Compose
You will work closely with product, project, design, data, QA, and other engineers to participate in product development
Participate in code reviews and willingness to learn from constructive feedback
Assist in debugging and fixing bugs to ensure a high-quality user experience
Collaborate with internal NYTimes services and external APIs
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
Qualification
Required
Experience with Android engineering fundamentals, including writing testable code, networking, data persistence, and UI
Basic proficiency in Kotlin
Demonstrated understanding of Android design patterns
Experience with layouts, themes, styles, views, and other Android UI concepts
Preferred
Prior professional Android engineering experience through internships, apprenticeships, or full-time employment
Experience with modern Android technologies such as Jetpack Compose and Coroutines
