Responsibilities
Design and develop control logic using ladder logic, structured text, and/or function block diagrams for vehicle automation and lighting control
Integrate and troubleshoot CAN-based multiplexing systems (e.g., J1939, proprietary protocols) for emergency vehicle applications
Work closely with OEMs, upfitters, and engineering teams to define application requirements and implement tailored solutions
Interpret electrical schematics and develop system architecture documentation and wiring diagrams
Support field installations, diagnostics, and issue resolution across customer platforms
Interface with product management and sales to align system capabilities with customer needs
Conduct training and create technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience in vehicle electronics, preferably within fire, EMS, or utility vehicle markets
Proficiency in ladder logic programming
Deep understanding of CAN protocol, including J1939 and CANopen; ability to use CAN analyzers
Hands-on experience with vehicle automation/multiplexing systems
Strong knowledge of 12V/24V vehicle electrical systems and components
Ability to travel to customer sites for system commissioning or support
Preferred
Experience with fire and emergency vehicle standards (e.g., NFPA 1901)
Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in vehicle applications
Experience with HMI displays, I/O modules, and diagnostic tools
