Summer 2026 High School Student Intern - in-person at Meta HQ (Menlo Park, CA)

Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education. As a High School Student Intern for the Intro to VR course, you'll support students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills while guiding them through their VR projects.

Responsibilities

Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks and love
Support the Lead Instructor and TA with their lesson plans, live-coding demonstrations, coding challenges, and Q&A sessions three times a week
Follow the Lead Instructor's directions
Dedicate 1:1 time to help students work on their projects
Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students
Promote positive, productive collaboration between students
Assist with other instructional needs
Attend weekly staff meetings
Participate in morning huddles with the classroom team to align on plans for the day
Collaborate with the Lead Instructor, TA, and classroom volunteers on lesson plans and student progresses
Follow all site and program policies and expectations
Communicate student progress, successes, and challenges to the Lead Instructor
Submit a weekly report on class activities
Maintain regular communication with Mission Bit core team about plans or concerns

Qualification

Required

Are a current high school student or are graduating in Spring 2026
Have some technical experience in Unity, Game Design, C#, and VR (this may include school, internships, or workforce experience)
Have some experience with Meta Quest Pro
Some experience in a leadership role (such as club president, team captain, or peer mentor)
Have values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for supporting youth
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously with little oversight
Dedicated, flexible, and willing to experiment

Preferred

Are an alum of Meta Summer Academy or other Mission Bit programs
Have experience in project-based learning, asset-based teaching, and/or culturally relevant teaching
Have experience working with youth, especially in an educational setting
Are bilingual in Spanish
