Purchasing Assistant (Lab Manager Assistant)
Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a Lab Purchasing Assistant for the Gray Lab in the Stanford Cancer Institute. The role involves procuring lab supplies, maintaining safety compliance, and assisting with lab organization while working in a vibrant scientific environment.

Responsibilities
Procure/acquire research related supplies, negotiate prices with vendors, and regularly monitor lab spending
Create blanket requisitions for materials or equipment maintenance, renew equipment contracts, schedule yearly maintenance and request equipment repairs when needed
Organize lab reagents and maintain electronic inventory; replenish supplies as needed
Ensure lab safety compliance, maintain and renew compliance protocols
Assist with onboarding new lab members, and assign lab jobs to help with the lab maintenance and organization tasks
Act as a responsible information steward and treat information as sensitive and confidential in accordance with federal and state laws and with professional ethics, accreditation standards and legal requirements
Onsite work agreement

Qualification
Required
High School Diploma plus 2 years relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, strong command of the English language, both oral and written
Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, PDF, Power Point, and Databases
Data entry experience
Must be able to understand and apply policies, procedures and protocols of the university
Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail in a high-pressure environment
Preferred
College-level education with a BS in Chemistry, Biology or other STEM major is preferred
Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently
Strong attention to detail with highly accurate work product
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to use good judgment in responding to inquiries
Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels
Ability to be a team player who can work well both as part of a large group and independently
Familiarity with purchasing/inventory control procedures and/or Stanford University financial systems highly desirable
