Junior Engineer (Construction)

The City of New York is seeking a Junior Engineer to join the Construction Management Unit within the Department of Design & Construction. The selected candidate will receive hands-on training and assist in various engineering tasks, including design, drafting, and field inspections under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

Assist in moderate to difficult engineering work
Conduct research studies, engineering investigations, and examinations relating to engineering functions
Perform civil engineering work of moderate difficulty under the direction of an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer
Work and/or training in specialized engineering areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, estimating, specifications, structural computations, field surveys/inspections, and design-related site inspections

Applicants must be ACI Concrete Field -Testing and OSHA 10-hour Certified or take the first available DDC-offered training session
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration; or a master's degree in architecture that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college or university
Valid driver's license (required)

Preferred

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main)
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
Personal vehicle (preferred)
