Responsibilities

Conduct underground surveys for development headings, production stopes, ventilation raises, and infrastructure installations
Perform mark ups for long hole drilling, including collar locations, toe points, burdens, and spacing
Complete cavity monitoring surveys (CMS) or laser scans of stopes to measure overbreak, underbreak, and volume reconciliation
Establish and maintain underground survey control networks, including stations, backsights, and benchmarks
Collect and verify spatial data using total stations, laser scanners, and other survey instruments
Process survey data and generate accurate maps, plans, and 3D models using mine design and survey software (e.g., Deswik, MineSight, AutoCAD, or similar)
Update mine plans, development progress, and stope shapes in coordination with engineering and geology teams
Produce daily or weekly survey reports, including progress measurements and volume calculations
Maintain organized digital and physical survey records
Provide timely survey services to support drilling, blasting, ground support installation, and infrastructure construction
Assist engineers with stope design updates, reconciliation, and quality control
Ensure all survey work complies with company standards, MSHA regulations, and industry best practices
Communicate clearly with supervisors, miners, and contractors to ensure accurate implementation of survey instructions
Follow all underground safety protocols, including ventilation, ground control, and hazard recognition procedures
Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training sessions
Maintain survey equipment in safe working condition and report defects promptly

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working in underground mining environments
Proficiency with total stations, laser scanners, and other survey instruments
Ability to read and interpret mine plans, engineering drawings, and stope designs
Strong computer skills, including survey and CAD software
Ability to work rotating shifts (8/6 rotation) and weekends
Physically capable of working underground, including walking on uneven ground, climbing ladders, and carrying equipment

Preferred

Previous experience surveying in a long hole stoping operation
Technical training or certification in surveying, geomatics, or related fields
Experience with CMS or LiDAR scanning systems
Familiarity with Nevada mining regulations and MSHA requirements
