Responsibilities

Design interior components and systems including monuments, passenger service units, seating, panels, bezels, liners, and secondary structures
Develop 2D & 3D datasets in Catia V6 within a controlled PLM environment
Perform hand calculations and FEA to validate designs and ensure structural integrity at minimum weight
Design with carbon composites and metallic materials, optimizing for weight, manufacturability, and certification
Create prototypes and run design experiments to inform and refine concepts
Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and certification documentation
Lead flammability testing and material compliance activities
Collaborate with Design, Stress, Systems, Safety, and Certification teams
Provide production support to resolve real-time design issues and incorporate lessons learned

Required

5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for FAA certification programs
Demonstrated aerospace interiors design experience
Strong understanding of composite design processes, particularly carbon fiber
Proficiency in 3D CAD (Catia V6 preferred; other Catia experience transferable)
Ability to perform hand calculations and finite element analysis
Understanding of load paths, material selection, and design optimization for weight-critical applications
Self-starter with strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

Experience with Catia composite workbenches
Hands-on manufacturing experience in metallic and composite assemblies
Flammability testing and certification experience for aircraft interiors
Proficiency with Ansys and/or Nastran
Knowledge of human factors, ergonomics, and touch-point design
Familiarity with PSSAs and functional hazard assessments
Production environment experience with real-time design decision-making
