Responsibilities
Lead design, optimization, and troubleshooting of downstream purification processes for complex protein biologics (including chromatography and filtration strategies)
Apply experimental design and data driven decision making to refine unit operations and improve process robustness
Drive tech transfer of purification processes from bench to pilot and GMP manufacturing, working closely with manufacturing and quality teams
Select and implement appropriate chromatography techniques (e.g., ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, affinity) to meet target purity and yield
Oversee tangential flow filtration (TFF), depth filtration, and other downstream unit operations relevant to protein capture and polishing
Collaborate with upstream, analytical, and regulatory partners to align on process strategy, documentation, and development timelines
Mentor and develop junior scientists and associates as the team grows
Contribute to internal process knowledge, standardization, and potentially publications and conference presentations
Qualification
Required
MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline with significant industry experience
Deep technical hands-on experience with purification of therapeutic proteins using AKTA or equivalent systems
Proven ability to design and execute experiments, interpret analytical data, and implement process improvements
Experience with scaling processes towards commercial manufacturing and supporting tech transfer
Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions and clearly document scientific decisions
A proactive mindset, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced development environment
