TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (CIVIL ENGINEERNG)

USAJOBS is seeking a Training Instructor specializing in Civil Engineering. The primary purpose of this position is to instruct students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels, while developing and revising lesson plans and training materials for the Structures curriculum.

Responsibilities

Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels
Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials for Structures curriculum
Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance
Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS)
Maintains professional and technical expertise

In order to qualify, you must meet the SPECIALIZED experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1712, Training Instructor series
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems
Examples of specialized experience includes; Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s)
Supervising or administering a training program
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis
Applying a working knowledge of computer applications
Providing knowledge of operation/maintenance of equipment
Using knowledge and skill in the fundamentals of water supply systems, waste systems, and natural gas systems
Successfully completed a masters or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D., with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled

Less than the full amount of specialized experience described; however, I have completed some education as described. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education as described above

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction
Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs
Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses
Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives
Knowledge of computer applications
Skill in written and oral communication
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel
Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions
Knowledge of operation/maintenance of equipment
Knowledge and skill in carpentry, masonry, sheet metal, and welding practices
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
