Responsibilities
Assists with the organizing and directing of a complete summer camp program at a local school site or community center
Assists with the development and maintenance of a daily schedule of arts and crafts, games, sports, and trips for youth
Supervises and leads participants in scheduled activities
Completes required forms and submits to the supervisor
Performs any other duties as assigned which relate to successful operation of a camp program
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Subject to a background investigation
Must be 18 years of age
Must have the ability and willingness to obtain CPR certification post-employment provided by the County
Knowledge of camp programs
Ability to read and write
Ability to prepare accurate records
Ability to interact well with children
Ability to maintain good working relationships with parents, community and co-workers
Ability to deal effectively with the public
Work requires strenuous physical effort to perform manual work involving walking over rough, uneven terrain, repeated bending, climbing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or lifting objects up to 50 pounds
Some work is performed in outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and natural elements
The position requires the ability to lead and actively participate in physical activities, including walking, standing for extended periods, lifting, and other movements associated with program or operational needs
Duties may include participating in and supervising swimming and water-based activities, which requires the ability to enter and exit the water, remain in the water for extended periods, and respond to emergency situations as necessary
