Responsibilities
Assist and register patients and families presenting for outpatient clinic, rehabilitation, behavioral health, acute care, and inpatient/observation services
Obtain and maintain required patient consents, authorizations, and demographic documentation
Verify insurance coverage, collect copays, and ensure appropriate referrals and prior authorizations are secured
Scan and process patient documentation including ID, insurance cards, consents, and referrals within the EHR
Schedule new and established patient appointments for outpatient clinic services
Manage appointment requests, cancellations, reschedules, and waitlist outreach
Conduct pre-registration and confirm demographics and insurance prior to scheduled visits
Collaborate with clinical and financial counseling teams to address scheduling or insurance concerns
Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients, families, and visitors in person and over the phone
Support daily departmental workflows by assisting team members with registration and scheduling needs
Adjust coverage as needed to support department operations and patient access
Mentor and assist with onboarding of new team members
Participate in workflow improvement initiatives and provide feedback to enhance efficiency
Ensure registration and reception areas are adequately stocked and organized
Monitor phone coverage and respond to voicemail messages in a timely manner
Report computer, system, or environmental concerns promptly to leadership
Qualification

Related work experience required
Typing skills required
Ability to think objectively and multi-task required
CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted
Preferred
High school diploma preferred
Previous hospital experience with HMO experience preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel preferred
