Responsibilities
Reviewing food manufacturing and bottled water permit applications
Issuing invoices, permits and notices
Reviewing bottled water facility laboratory results for compliance with state and federal rules
Assist with teaching new sanitarians the state rules and how to conduct food establishment inspections
Coordinating Food Safety Task Force meeting by planning agendas, taking minutes, evaluating variance applications, and establishing a framework through by-laws
Assist the Food Program Manager to draft and review legislative rules, program guidance, and procedures
Presenting to policy makers and citizens of topics of interest
Assisting local health departments during foodborne illness investigations
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian
Must be licensed as a registered sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq
Must possess a valid driver's license
Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment
Preferred
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience
