Research Biological Laboratory Technician
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Without Compensation Research Biological Lab Technician within the Office of Research and Development. This role focuses on promoting Veteran-centered care through laboratory techniques and research activities aimed at improving patient experiences and outcomes in VA healthcare settings.

Responsibilities
Feeding mice with an experimental diet
Breeding mice to generate conditional knock-out mice
Performing various experiments to include RNA and protein isolation - real-time PCR and western blot analysis - and immunohistochemical analysis
Performing in vitro/ex vivo studies in differentiated adipocytes - adipose tissue explants - primary adipocytes - and primary hepatocytes
Analyzing data - writing manuscripts - and presenting research findings at regional and national meetings
Qualification
Required
Experience performing laboratory techniques including RNA and protein isolation, polymerase chain reactions, and western blotting
Experience collecting, analyzing, and publishing experimental data and results
Ability to indicate clearly the nature of duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment
Physical ability to perform predominantly sedentary work with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items of moderate weight
Hand and eye coordination for delicate testing procedures
